Berend van den Berg
Berend van den Berg is an energy-transition leader with four decades of experience turning flared and vented gas into commercially viable energy. After an international career at Wärtsilä (1986–1999), he founded a project-development firm pioneering gas-monetization solutions, delivering over 100 projects worth more than US$2 billion. From 2016 to 2020 he served as a senior energy consultant to the World Bank's Global Gas Flaring Reduction Partnership, advising governments, IOCs and NOCs. He later co-founded Smart Energy, deploying modular “gas-to-grid” systems for small-scale associated gas. He now develops fast-track LNG solutions in Colombia, advancing practical, scalable methane-reduction initiatives worldwide.
